News Friends technical difficulties

Every couple of hours the VM gets unresponsive. Then things stop loading. I'm not sure why this is happening yet, but I'm trying some things to avoid it.

I tried (re-)disabling all forms of sleep on the machine. I also moved the database to Amazon's RDS (read: the cloud). I'll keep an eye on it.
