This may seem somewhat surprising, but Troy does have a surprising amount of activities to do outside of the RPI campus! O'RLY? Well you can at least grab some epic pizza.

American

Famous Lunch

111 Congress Street
Troy, NY 12180
(518) 272-9481
These tasty little hot-dogs with zippy sauce will make you come back for more! Possibly the best cheap food in Troy. Don't make the mistake of ordering 1 thinking that they are normal-sized dogs. They are about 4 inches long with mustard, onion, and "Zippy" sauce, and one can easily finish at least 5 or 10. You can even buy the Zippy Sauce to bring home!

Jack's Drive-In

24 Main Ave (Route 66)
Wynantskill, NY 12198
(518) 283-5110
This is a little-known place on Route 66 (Pawling Ave) just on the border of Wynantskill and Troy. They are sort of the "Famous Lunch" of hamburgers. They make no attempt to make their food look tasty, but that is really the art of it. The cheeseburgers are outstanding, and so are the fries. And, like Famous Lunch, you can smell Jack's from miles away. Great food!

Wings

I Love New York Pizza

125 4th Street
Troy, New York 12180

I Love's Downtown also has some of the best wings in the city. They seem to be the only wing joint that actually knows how to make things spicy and taste good at the same time.

Hoosick Pizza

Congress Street
Troy, New York 12180
(518) 272-5555
While the exterior appearance of Hoosick Pizza may turn you off, the wings they produce are quite good! They now moved to congress street yet retained their name. Cheapest pie around but make sure to eat it quick or you might notice the cardboard taste of the crust.
